Port City Church moving closer to planting Leland branch
LELAND, NC (WECT) - Port City Community Church , a non-denominational church with thousands of regular attendees in Wilmington, is one step closer to branching out.
Church leaders recently announced they may close the deal on a Leland campus in the near future.
There will also be an interest meeting on Thursday, June 16 for anyone who's considering attending and/or volunteering at the new location. The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. at Studio 3. That's at Port City's Wilmington location at 250 Vision Drive.
Since its beginning in 1999, Port City moved from a small venue to the Roland Grise Middle School auditorium, and even spent a brief time inside Mayfaire's movie theater before constructing its own building off Eastwood Road.
Earlier this spring, Pastor Mike Ashcraft announced the church would plant a satellite branch in Leland in order to leverage the influence of Port City to reach out to a growing community.

Leland Update & Interest Meeting | The Official Port City ...
Several months ago, Mike announced to the church body that we were beginning the plans to launch a campus in the Leland area between Fall 2011 and Spring 2012. Since that announcement, we have experienced a few bumps in the road and also many doors opening up. The greatest challenge for many of us has been: What can we do? How can we help?
All along the way, we have trusted God. As he says in Psalm 119:105, “Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.” We know that it is our responsibility to step into those places where God has given us a step that is clear. It is not always the destination, but the steps that take you there that strengthen your faith.
At the outset of this journey, God did not show us where we would be starting the campus in Leland. He did not show us who would all be there. He did not show us how would provide services, provide ministries, or even show us financial provision. But through prayer and our desire to advance His kingdom outside of where we currently meet, we heard ‘Go’.
And so we took a step. The path has always been lit for simply one step. And as we have continued to take those steps, one at a time, we have continued to see God’s faithfulness and affirmation that we are moving in the direction that He desires for us as a body. Our extension, our reach, into Leland is a “we” thing. This is our mission. This is your mission. To reach people and help them walk with God is about all of us.
Whether you live in Brunswick County or not, you are a part of this movement and we would like to invite you to join us on June 16th at 7:00pm in Studio 3. We will be having an interest meeting for those that would like to learn more about the Leland campus and how you can be a part of this movement. You will have an opportunity to hear more about where we are in the process, ask questions, and to hear more about what you can do as a part of this body to continue with what believe God is calling us to.
