1995 TVR Chimaera 400 (Serp w/PAS & T5)
It's a late M reg 4.0 serp engined car with PAS. It has a very comprehensive service history (reciepts totalling around £35k) and passed its MOT first time a couple of weeks ago, so it comes with a full ticket. It also has the later (better) Borg Warner T5 gearbox. The engine runs very well and it was dyno'd at 229.3bhp/245lb ft (with a very smooth curve) on the rollers at Surrey Rolling Road in December 2010. Doesn't suffer the hot start problem like many cars, it's always a first time starter. Oil pressure is strong (around 60PSI at fast idle) and it never overheats (the second cooling fan barely ever cuts in). It's largely standard, but does have the ACT smooth bore intake elbow fitted and shortened intake trumpets. It was serviced around 500miles ago by myself with new plugs and filters. It was also flushed and then filled with Motul 5w40 synthetic racing oil. The gearbox oil and diff (75w140) have also had an oil change. It had a new AP Racing performance clutch fitted a couple of years ago along with an uprated release arm and a new clutch master cylinder. The fluid (along with the brake fluid) has been flushed and bled with Motul DOT 5.1. The brakes themselves have been upgraded to Mondeo V6 278mm items on the front, with new discs and pads all round. I have also fitted Goodridge stainless hoses. Perhaps the most important part, the chassis, is also in good health. I undertook a body lift refurb around 18months ago to replace the corroded seat belt anchor points. At the same time the outriggers were inspected and overhauled where needed. Overall they were in good shape, but the front corners needed attention and these were cut out and replaced with new sections which were sleeve jointed aswell as welded to ensure a quality joint. The outrigger sections were all cleaned and stripped, treated with red oxide primer and painted (all round, not just the bits you can see!). I also photo documented all the work carried out. The only negative point I could really put on the car is the bodywork and to some extent the interior, which is tired in places. It's still good for it's age as far as the shine goes, and the paint has good depth. But scrutineers inspecting it from less than a foot will find small scratches, flat spots, chips and other imperfections.
