Beef cattle and range management workshop scheduled for June 14

ALPINE – A multi-county beef cattle and range management workshop has been scheduled for 8:30 a.m. – 3 p.m. June 14 in Alpine.

The workshop will be held at Sul Ross State University’s Everett E. Turner Range Animal Science Building on East U.S. Highway 90. The program will be conducted by the Texas AgriLife Extension Service offices in Presidio and Brewster/Jeff Davis counties.

Three Texas Department of Agriculture continuing education units, one laws and regulations, one drift minimization and one general, will be offered.

Program topics will include: drought management, forages, marketing, cattle market outlook and pricing factors, brush management, plant identification and sprayer calibration.

Registration is $10 due upon arrival.

Product segment net sales were $16.9 million for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2011, an increase of 14.5% compared with $14.7 million in the same period of the prior fiscal year. Service segment net revenue, which represented 34.6% of total net revenue, increased 1.0% to $8.9 million in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2011 compared with $8.8 million in the prior fiscal year fourth quarter.
