Doggie dental care

Most people know when they bring their pooch in for a grooming, he or she will come home with a new 'do, mani/pedi and sparkling clean ears. Few people, however, ever think to ask their groomer or pet service professional to brush their dog's teeth. Usually the issue of dental care only comes up when there is an obvious issue, which generally results in expensive dental cleanings done under anesthesia in a veterinarians office.

According to VMCLI (Veterinary Medical Center of Long Island) , 85% of pets over the age of 3 experience some form of dental distress as a result of tooth neglect. This can include pain, infection and tooth loss. As if that wasn't bad enough, according to Vet Views on LIDogDirectory, doggie dental work starts at $200 and can go into the thousands depending on the issue.

Of course there are some people who have dogs like mine - that I affectionately say have The Death Breath - where tooth brushing is a must and dental care is as routine as ear cleaning and nail clipping. Kayla Burlew, a vet tech and Hounds Town USA staff member, recommends brushing your dog's teeth everyday. Plaque grows on your canine's...er...canines just as fast as it does for humans so to keep their breath fresh and their teeth spotless, everyday brushing should be routine.

In the event that you just don't have the time or patience (not all dog's will sit through a brushing, no matter how tasty the toothpaste is), there are many products on the market that will serve to keep those pearly whites gleaming.

In addition to tooth brushes and tooth paste, Fetch Doggy Boutique in Port Jefferson Village has a wide array of dental and raw bones that will serve just as well as regular brushing. They are an inexpensive and tasty way to keep up with your pup's oral hygiene.

And then of course, when you drop your dog off for daycare or boarding with us at Hounds Town, ask about a tooth brushing. Our staff will be able to do most dog's teeth for $5 if you provide the toothbrush and tooth paste.

Sounds like an infection. There is a lymph node in that exact spot that often swells and hurts with infections. This could be causing you toothaches, but you could also have an infected tooth. Depending on how ancient you are, this is ordinary symptoms for wisdom teeth harms. If your dental checks aren’t up to date get it checked out. You would most liable be running a fever if it was a touch bacterial like strep throat, etc. It may just be a viral cold. If not anything checks out go see your doc. Take a multivitamin and some vit C to help boost your immune logic.

you might want to go to an ear nose and throat doctor that specializes in head and neck surgery. they are called ontoroligist-(sorry for the misspelling) but you also have a PAROTID GLAND in the same area. part of the salvatory glands. you do need a specialist for this since it is misdiagnosed lacking a specialist. i had this type tumor (parotid) and my neck and in the rear my ear was inflated and had pain in it. if it is a tumor it will take up again to grow and possibly be cancer. mine was on the left side also but by the grace of GOD it was gentle as was a brain tumor indifferent 2 months before the parotid tumor was indifferent in feb 08 and june 08. they found both tumors with an MRI . but go to a specialist and have it checked out . it is called a PAROTIDECTOMY if its a tumor like mine. if you dont have indemnity check with your local hospital or health office and question if they have an destitute curriculum to help pay for the services. thats what i had to do and i live in new mexico. it only pays a very small percentage of actual hospital bill BUT it helped save my life (literally) .
