The opening of every movie has spectators flying over Fort Worth, evoking the emotion of flying and falling before stopping at the museum. The movies playing now include “Wild Ocean,” “Hubble,” “Bugs: A Rainforest Adventure” and “Tornado Alley.” At the different shows spectators experience life in the ocean, floating in outer space, the view from the smallest of creatures and the terror of being in front of a tornado. In the lab are the bones of Tenontosaurus dossi, a dinosaur found near Weatherford in 1988. The 25-foot dinosaur was found by a father and son who were exploring a ranch. After locating a few bones, they contacted the museum for their expertise. The museum collaborated with Southern Methodist University to recover the bones. The bones were put together, and the display at the museum opened in 1993. A Galapagos turtle inside a glass dome allows children to look at the world’s largest turtle species from all angles. A variety of living snakes and scorpions can also entertain the youngsters. But the real fun is the healthy kids’ clinic, grocery stores, train station and more where the youngsters can climb in and go shopping, ride in an ambulance and build their own trains.Ft Worth Museum Of Science - News
