Portland Girl, 9, Drowns at Oregon Coast Park
Netarts, Oregon - Oregon State Police troopers, assisted by the medical examiner Tillamook County, complete investigation into the death Monday morning by drowning of a girl of nine years in Southeast Portland in the Ocean Surf at Cape Lookout State Park. Troopers said the girl's name will be released Tuesday morning to allow time for additional family to fill any need to the next kin notifications. According to OSP Sgt. Greg Plummer, around 10:30 the girl, identified Tuesday, Angelica Fisher, was part of a big family reunion in Cape Lookout State Park.She played in the waves on a floating toy, described as a large inflatable whale, with three other young children when a wave swept it under them. As the children were back on the ground, a second wave to hit, taking the victim under water. A few minutes later, family members found near the girl and pulled the surf. She was unconscious and not breathing. Two park rangers of state arrived and began CPR until the police officers and emergency medical services arrived at the scene.They were relieved by EMS and was transported by ambulance to Tillamook Tillamook County General Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 12:15 pm The other children he has done to shore. Police and Fire Department were dispatched to the woods at Horseshoe Lake Park at about 2:15 p.m. on Monday. Early reports indicated a male age 16 was Hispanic swimming in the lake with friends. The victim swam some distance on the lake to a buoy, then began to return to shore. He had problems and a friend, 15, tried to swim to his rescue. The victim grabbed the woman panicked, causing him to be in distress. She had to part with him, and then disappeared. Several passersby in the park jumped into the water to try to help but without success. A rescue team from Clark County Fire & Rescue and the Cowlitz County Dive Team responded to the scene.
