Robert Andrew Parker was born in 1927 in Norfolk, Virginia, he studied at the Art Institute of Chicago, followed by a stint in the Army Air Force as a flight engineer on a B-25 bomber. After World War II, he won a scholarship to Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in Maine, for whom he taught. He has also taught at the School of Visual Arts in New York and Gerit Rietveld Academy in the Netherlands. His work has appeared in Esquire, Playboy, Sports Illustrated and The New Yorker, among others.Film projects include the iconic artwork of the 1955 biopic of Vincent Van Gogh, "Lust for Life" with Kirk Douglas. His work can be seen in museums worldwide, including the Brooklyn Museum, Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Museum of New Britain, the Whitney Museum and others.
