The good thing about the bad weather is the fishing is good

We are well into July and still we have had no really hot weather. Some places it's too hot or flooding. We have a very heavy hay crop but so far no drying weather. Maybe there will be a turn and a break for the ranchers.

Lots of big travel trailers both coming and going, a good sign. Some of the big rigs look like a moving home on wheels, they are beautiful, as I say a home away from home. The bad weather doesn't seem to effect the fishing it has been great, both Char and Trout. Folks have been casting off the shore and catching a limit.

On Wednesday last at the Immaculate Church many many loving close family and friends gathered to pay their last respects to Marlene Feldman, such a lovely person so well known and respected by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Marlene and her husband Derek were always there in the Lakes District to help and sometimes take over the management. Such as the Fall Fair, rodeo assn., and many more helping out at all times. By the numbers who were present at her service told us all just how well Marlene was thought of and loved. She is leaving behind such a loving family and so many friends, yes Marlene we will all miss you so much.

When we lose anyone in our community I always feel like it's part of my family that has gone. When I am all alone in my room where I do my write ups for the paper and of late we seem to have so many friends that have left us, folks that I have known and loved so much. In my over 70 years it seems there are so many. Especially some one as young as Marlene, I ask the question why? I am not ashamed to say that when I am alone I cry a little bit as it makes me feel a little better.

On July 8, 2011 there was a funeral service at the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints for the late Alice Price. Officiant Pastor Elmer Mushumanksi. Who took the service. Alice also leaves her loving family and so many friends. She was one great lady. She was an active member of the Women's Institute and many of the Christmas dinners were held in her home. Alice and my late wife Jo were very good friends and always attended the meetings together. Interment was in the Tatalrose cemetery. Alice and her husband Mel ranched in the Tatalrose district for many years also raised their family there. In later years they made their home at Tchesinkut Lake, where they spent the rest of their lives. This is another break in one of our old time pioneer families. I will miss this couple of very good friends that we go back so many years and always enjoyed our visits. I know their families will carry on their good name and be very proud to be part of such a great heritage the coming years.
