Poem from Brenda (89) draws Queen's thanks
ROYALIST Brenda Sensicle Creese was so moved by the spectacle of the wedding of William and Kate she penned a poem and sent it to the Queen.
Mrs Sensicle Creese (89), of Patchett Lodge, Holbeach, is already a published author having written a book – “Sensicle But Not Always” – which features her life story, a collection of short stories, poems and illustrations.
The book is raising money for Cancer Research, with £1 from each copy sold going to the charity, in memory of her daughter Libby Robinson who died aged 37 from breast cancer in 1997.
Watching the royal wedding inspired Mrs Sensicle Creese to write another poem.
She said: “I was moved. I decided to write it because I thought they were so beautiful. I am a royalist.”
Mrs Sensicle Creese has had a lovely reply from the Palace with an aide expressing the Queen’s joy.
The aide said: “Her Majesty thought it was so kind of you to wish her to see these verses and was touched by the expression of your warm support and loyalty for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.”
Mrs Sensicle Creese has four sons, Johnny, Bobby, Patrick and Timothy, six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Born in Spalding, she did wartime service working on Lancasters for the air ministry, ran a shop in Spalding and then moved to Whaplode where she had her own a nursery for 43 years.
Her husband, John, died in 2000.

The Royal Wedding
What a memorable glorious day
An opportunity for our centuries of history to display
A spectacle of which to be justly proud
The thousands of flag waving devoted crowd.
William and Kate such a lovely pair
Stood at the altar solemn vows to declare.
Wills in his uniform, Kate in her lovely dress
They exuded their love and extreme happiness
Twas time then to leave Westminster
To a future we hope is as happy, “God Bless”.

My sister married next month and I am the maid of honor. Instead of the toast always she asked me if I would read a poem.
